Dräger X-am® 8000: Your Personal Guardian Against Gas Hazards
In the world of personal gas detection, the **Dräger X-am® 8000** stands out as a reliable and robust single-sensor device. Engineered for maximum safety even in the harshest environments, this compact instrument is your trusted partner for staying safe on the job. The 1 to 7 gas detector measures toxic and flammable gases, vapours, and oxygen all at once – in either pump or diffusion mode. Innovative signalling and handy assistant functions ensure complete safety throughout the process.
Versatile Multi-Gas Detection
The Dräger X-am 8000 is a versatile device for multi-gas detection, perfect for clearance measurements. It is capable of detecting toxic and combustible gases, as well as vapours and oxygen.
It's specially designed for use with a powerful pump that can connect to hoses up to 45 metres long. A pump adapter makes it easy to switch between diffusion and pump mode, saving energy and extending the pump's lifespan. The X-am 8000 is durable and can be operated single-handedly with three function keys. Its easy-to-read colour display provides all the necessary information clearly.
The device also features advanced software, including the ability to change the measurement gas for PID, CatEx, and IR sensors during operation. It comes with a sturdy shoulder strap for comfortable carrying and a robust construction to withstand harsh conditions.
Fast and Smart Clearance Measurement
The X-am 8000 supports various applications with specially developed assistant functions that guide you step-by-step. For clearance measurement, a smart assistant calculates the necessary flooding time for the device and probe based on gases, temperature limits, and hose length. You can also define your own flooding times.
For high methane concentrations, an optional automatic measurement range switch makes readings easier: if the Cat-Ex sensor measures values above 100% LEL, the display switches to a 0-100 vol% range. A similar function is available for the IR EX ES sensor. The **DrägerSensor CatEx 125 PR Gas** also offers a special variant for methane, allowing for measurements in the ppm range. The performance of selected sensors has been verified by an external approval body for combustible gases and vapours like methane, propane, and n-nonane.
Clear Signalling and Robust Fleet Management
The X-am 8000's signal system uses a clear colour code:
- Red light = gas alarm
- Yellow light = device-related alarm (e.g., low battery)
- Green light = device is ready for use
The green glow of the **D-Light** lets you confirm the device's status from a distance. In an alarm situation, the device uses bright, colorful LEDs, a loud horn (100 dB(A)), and vibration. Optional preset hazard symbols on the display explicitly indicate the type of hazard, such as explosive or toxic gas.
An integrated **impact detection system** logs severe mechanical impacts in the event report and data logger, which can be checked by a technician to ensure the device remains functional. As an option, the instrument can be locked after an impact is detected.
Economical and Convenient
The X-am 8000 features **inductive charging**, which protects against wear and tear and eliminates corrosion or contact problems. This allows you to charge and measure at the same time. The charging cradles are compatible with existing Dräger X-am series cradles and can be connected to save space. For fleet management, bump tests and calibrations are fast and simple with the **Dräger X-dock® calibrating station**, which uses minimal test gas to keep costs low. The **Dräger Gas Detection Connect** software and integrated RFID transponder further streamline fleet management.
Specialist for Hydrocarbon Concentrations
The X-am 8000 can be fitted with two high-performance **PID sensors** for hard-to-detect hydrocarbons. The **PID HC** covers a range of 0 to 2,000 ppm (Isobutene), while the **PID LC ppb** is ideal for a 0 to 10 ppm range with high resolution. For benzene-specific measurements, the device supports the use of pre-tubes, which reduces the need for multiple devices and cuts down on purchasing, maintenance, and transportation costs.
